Associations Between Geographic Atrophy Lesions in Fundus Autofluorescence and Outer Retinal Morphological Alterations in Optical Coherence Tomography

We investigated the correlation between hypoFAF lesion area and the extent of retinal pigment epithelium (RPE), photoreceptors (PR), and myoid zone (MZ) loss on OCT, along with the presence of abnormal hyperreflective areas (amorphous material, AM) in patients with Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD). Collaboration with: Marion R Munk, Irmela Mantel

Phenotyping of Atrophic Patients using Automatic Layer Thickness Segmentation

This study aimed to comprehensively map longitudinally observed patients with Geographic Atrophy (GA) into different phenotypes driven by OCT-derived biomarkers to guide the future development of imaging-based disease progression markers. The construction of a comprehensive map of the atrophic phenotypes allows the development of new hypotheses and provides the foundation for an array of different use cases.
